About Us

OUR VISION

Reaching Goals for Latinos Today.

OUR MISSION

Our mission is to improve the quality of life of immigrants in Massachusetts by empowering our community members to become leaders, overcome social challenges, and fight against xenophobia.

About Us

Agencia ALPHA was founded in January of 2002 by two immigrant women from Guatemala. We are an immigrant and women-led, grassroots organization, with a focus on legalization & citizenship, community organizing and leadership development. ALPHA’s strong ties to the Latino community and proven track record have positioned us as a trusted and reliable “go-to” organization known for providing holistic support to Massachusetts’ immigrant communities.

Agencia ALPHA assists over 1,500 low-income immigrants from over 65 countries each year, primarily from Central and South America as well as the Caribbean. Our community programs include community resource clinics, health care enrollment support, youth/adult leadership programs, and community organizing efforts.

We are a faith-based non-profit organization located in Boston, Massachusetts. Today, our organization counts with the support, diversity and personal experience of individuals from various parts of the world including Chile, Colombia, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Perú, Puerto Rico, Sweden and the United States. Our staff board and volunteers bring a wide range of skills and professional experiences. Among our volunteers, we have accountants, teachers, counselors, IT technicians, stay-at-home moms, Pastors and college students.

Our acronym reflects what we do on a daily basis: enable immigrants, primarily Latinos to reach their social and legal goals through the use of our services and programs. While faith-based, our programs and services are available to all people from all walks of life, regardless of faith, race, gender, nationality or cultural background.

Agencia ALPHA is a social ministry of Congregation Lion of Judah

In April 2020, Agencia ALPHA, the Brazilian Workers Center and Rian Immigrant Center joined forces to create the Massachusetts Immigrant Collaborative as a response to the  COVID19 pandemic and support our immigrant communities already experiencing social and economic inequalities. Through generous financial support from both local/state government and private foundations, the Collaborative (composed of 15 partner organizations) has raised over 7 million dollars and served over 60,000 individuals with culturally competent food and cash assistance. Over the years, our partners have identified the following as the Collaborative’s key priorities: legal assistance, workforce development, capacity building, advocacy efforts and financial assistance.

Equity Now & Beyond is an immigrant health equity cohort that is coordinated by Center to Support Immigrant Organizing and led by grassroots immigrant groups: Brazilian Women’s Group (BWG), African Community Economic Development of New England (ACEDONE), Haitian Americans United (HAU) along with its sister Haitian partner Immigrant Family Services Institute (IFSI), and Agencia ALPHA. EN&B brings these communities together to address the social factors of health.
